Ad & asset disapproval

Disapproved ads, sitelinks and assets - including broken landing pages.

Emails you when Google disapproves an ad, sitelink or other asset - which silently stops it from showing. This also catches "destination not working", which is how a broken landing page (a dead link, a 404) shows up in Google Ads, so a hosting problem on the client's site surfaces here too.

Defaults & settings

  • Disapproved - the core trigger; always on (locked).

  • Restricted (limited) approvals - also flag ads allowed to run but with limited reach. On by default.

  • Destination not working - surface dead landing pages. Available as its own switch.

  • Policy-topic allowlist - choose specific policy reasons to ignore if they're expected for your accounts (e.g. a topic that always flags in your vertical but is fine). Empty by default.

  • Checks every 15 minutes; 7-day cooldown per finding so a known disapproval doesn't nag.

Good to know. It's delta-based - on its first run it quietly learns the account's existing disapprovals and only alerts on newones after that, so connecting an account with old known disapprovals never floods your inbox on day one.

How to allowlist a policy topic:

  1. Open the rule's Adjust panel.

  2. Click Edit policy-topic allowlist.

  3. Tick the topics to skip, and save.

Example. A hot tub client's ad is disapproved for "destination not working" after their site's SSL certificate lapses. You're emailed within 15 minutes - usually before the client has noticed their own site is down.
