Generation shows a live percentage and the name of the current phase (see The generation pipeline). The build typically takes a few minutes; as long as the phase label keeps advancing, it's working. The copy and asset phases are the longest - that's the AI writing and validating every ad group's copy.
If Generate is clicked again while a build is already running - a second tab, an impatient double-click - the system detects the existing job and returns its progress instead of starting another. You can't accidentally build the same campaign twice or burn generation credits on a duplicate.
